SENTRI Designated Lane Entry Program Mexico
The Secure Electronic Network for Traveler Rapid Inspection Program (SENTRI) is an alternative inspection program to provide accelerated crossing privileges between the U.S. and Mexico at land crossings. It was formulated as an alternative to passports under the Western Hemisphere Travel Initiative (UWTI). Prescreened travelers get expedited processing through dedicated processing lanes at numerous border crossings. Participants receive a radio frequency identification card.
For U.S. participants application is through the Global On-Line Enrollment System (GOES) with a $122.25 total filing fee. An interview with an extensive background check is required. The ID card is valid for 5 years.
A similar system is activated through Canada for Canadian crossing called NEXUS.
