Nexus Designated Lane Entry Program Canada
Nexus is an alternative inspection program to provide accelerated crossing privileges between the U.S. and Canada at air, land and marine ports. It was formulated as an alternative to passports under the Western Hemisphere Travel Initiative (UWTI). Prescreened traveler get expedited processing through dedicated processing lanes at 11 border crossings, kiosks at airports and marine telephone reporting centers. Participants receive a radio frequency identification card.
For U.S. participants, application is through the Global On-Line Enrollment System (GOES) with a $50 filing fee. An interview with an extensive background check is required. The ID card is valid for 5 years.
A similar system is activated through Mexico for Mexican crossing called SENTRI.
