Voting in the United States

The right to vote, on the federal, state and local level is a privilege afforded U.S. citizens only. Permanent residents' foreign national non-immigrants generally cannot vote. Registering to vote and voting illegally, in a federal election, can subject them to removal or deportation and being barred from future naturalization.
