Adoptee Vaccinations
Vaccination Requirements for International Adoptions
Prior to immigrating to the U.S. your adopted child will have to be vaccinated for a wide range of communicable diseases, unless you can document to the USCIS's satisfaction that your child has already received these inoculations. These vaccinations will be conducted in the foreign country by an USCIS approved medical doctor and/or facility. It will be the parents' obligation to pay for these services. Make sure you receive the signed Doctor's Vaccination Chart as it will be needed at the border and for later immigration processes.
These vaccinations will include the following:
- Mumps
- Measles
- Rubella
- Tetanus & Diphtheria Toxoids
- Polio
- Pertussis
- Haemophilus Influenzae type B
- Hepatitis type B
- Any other vaccine -preventable diseases recommended by the Advisory Committee for Immunization Practices of the Center for Disease Control (CDC)
- The Herpes Zoster & Human Papillomavirus (HPC) vaccinations are no longer required.
